President: Seema Khanna

Seema Khanna has over 12 years of experience in research, teaching and project management in government and academic environments, including over eleven years with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change. In her current position as Senior Policy Coordinator with the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change she provides support in the implementation of Ontario’s trading programs for air pollutants and design of policies to address greenhouse gas emissions. Her educational qualifications include advanced degrees in Economics from the University of Delhi, and a post graduate degree in Environmental Studies from York University.

Patricia Agostini : Director at Large

Patricia has lived in the Humber Summit/Humbermede communities since emigrating to Canada more than 40 years ago. She values having a healthy environment and is interested in being an active participant in the continued development of a thriving community. A Human Resources (HR) professional who is the Director of HR at the Royal Conservatory, She brings more than 20 years of experience and is familiar with various area of the field. Her expertise in Human Resources, knowledge of the community and connections to seniors are important assets which Patricia has. She also speaks Italian & Spanish.

Secretary: Antoinette De Jager

Antoinette De Jager has both lived and worked in the catchment areas served by DFRC for many years and as a result is very familiar with the needs of the community. She has recently completed 12 years as the Community Outreach Manager for the Member of Parliament Humber River-Black Creek., Judy Sgro. Antoinette has extensive knowledge of federal programs and services offered locally in this community. Over the years, Antoinette has attended many events and meetings hosted by DFRC. Antoinette is fluent in Italian.

Treasurer: Dasha Enenko

Dasha Enenko Dasha Enenko holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce and has experience in performing audits and reviews of private corporations and other non-for profit and for profit entities as a senior Accountant. She is accountable to complete all audit sections including calculating materiality, preliminary analysis, accounting system testing and substantive audit work for all areas of the file.

Vice President: Shire Brandi

Shire Brandi grew up in Toronto’s west end and has been involved in youth work and advocacy with youth from m which are labeled as under-resourced and at risk. Shire is of Somali heritage, and English, Somali, French, and Italian. Familiar with the realities of the African community in Canada, and is passionate about youth issues and providing leadership and empowerment. Shire has worked as a lawyer in both the private and public sectors. He has experience in community building and youth advocacy from volunteering with Toronto Community Housing and the United Nations Association of Canada.

Member at Large: Alex Lau

A manager of business planning and transformation at TD, Alex brings local and international experience in business leadership and management. A former director of Customer Experience in Indonesia, Alex has worked with many major corporations in the GTA. With an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business in London, Alex’s skills in financial management, business and marketing are a key asset in exploring the community’s desire to strengthen economic activity in Humber Summit. Alex speaks Cantonese.

Member at Large: Dauna Jones-Simmonds

The President of DEJS (Diversity) Consulting where she shares her experience in diversity and Human Resources Dauna Jones-Simmods also mentors young Black women looking to advance their careers. One of the authors of ‘100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women’, Dauna is an energetic, goal-driven individual with a proven track record of organizing successful community events which generate funds and raise an organization’s profile.  

Member at Large: Janet Johnson

Janet Johnson is a resident of Humber Summit and has volunteered in the community and at Delta. Her interests are food safety, nutrition, and administration, and she worked in the field of Accounting in her native Jamaica. Janet brings more than 10 years experience in administration and finance, as well as certifications in food& nutrition management and advanced food safety. Janet has volunteered in various programs at DFRC, including the food pantry program, as well as providing administrative duties at the front desk.

Member at Large: Chezlie Alexander 

Chezlie Alexander is relationship builder with demonstrated experience engaging stakeholders in processes that build healthier communities. Chezlie has exceptional communication with an ability to clearly convey complex ideas. He is a leader and coach, Skilled at supporting team members to be effective agents for change.  

Ex-Officio/Executive Director: Kemi Jacobs

Kemi became the Executive Director of D.F.R.C in 2014. With over 20 years of community involvement, Kemi has been a leader in the non-governmental and public sectors, serving as the President of the Canadian Council for Refugees, executive director of CultureLink Settlement Services, Chairperson of the National Anti-Racism Council of Canada, Director of Housing at Toronto Community Housing, Chair of the Board at CAFCAN. Her volunteer works have included work on Rites of Passage programs and human trafficking, as well as a personal initiative on self hate and self love in the African community.
