SNAP®, which stands for Stop Now And Plan, is an evidence-based cognitive behavioural model that provides a framework for teaching children and their parents, effective emotional regulation, self-control and problem-solving skills. The primary goal of SNAP® is to help children to stop and think before they act, and keep them in school and out of trouble. Delta’s FREE program focuses on those of African-descent, we support those ages 6 to 11 and their families. Typically our children experience challenges making good choices (behavioral, typically) at home, school or in the community.

The Student and Family Advocate Program (SFA) is designed to support Black families and students ages 6-25 as they engage with the education system. There are 17 Black led organizations with SFAs across Ontario and Delta Family is one of them. As SFAs we also acknowledge, understand, and address Anti-Black Racism and its impacts on Black families and students through advocacy, accountability and action for transformational change.

Afrocentric wrap-around supports for Black/racialized youth and their families with pre, current and post involvement with the criminal justice system (CJS).Support in schools for “At Risk” Black youth (16-25).

Culturally responsive, community-based supports for Black/racialized youth (primarily 12 – 17) and their families to navigate the justice system (robbery charges, but not limited to) and other complex institutions. Services include navigation advice, direct 1:1 experience with YJW and individual/family counselling supports.

Culturally appropriate support for Black youth and families involved with the Children’s Aid Society.

Counselling and wellness support for Black & racialized caregivers who have family members with mental health challenges.

Life skills, workshops, team building activities grounded in an Afrocentric framework for Black Youth from the community and/or involved with Children’s Aid Society.

You are parent/caregiver with children Birth – 17 years looking for black culturally appropriate programming. We offer (Afrocentric early literacy and numeracy, Harambee, Young Giants, Youth Wellness & Kuji Kids drop in, and Baba roots dads’ group, Motivated Mama’s, Table talk).

Support for LGBTQ2SIA youth.

After-school activities for diverse youth ages 12 – 14 or children ages 8 – 11. The Afterschool Program provides a safe environment and support service for youths in their respective schools. The program incoporates physical activity, healthy eating, academic and homework help, wellness and other activities unique to local needs.

Academic success and leadership programs for Black youth. It offers culturally specific programming for Black youths in schools and focuses on aspects of academic tutoring, cultural Identity, sports and leadership, mental health programming, parent advocacy and support, and art Programming.

Structured program to help community youth improve their leadership skills on and off the basketball court. It implements a player’s developmental program for beginners and skilled players who are interested in learning and advancing their skills, enhancing knowledge in the game and that enjoys the competition of the House League.

Summer Jobs for young people aged 15 to 30 years (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been granted; have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada).

Group activities for seniors experiencing isolation.

Activities to help seniors improve their mental and physical wellbeing.

Activities to help seniors enhance cooking & nutrition.

Support for young parents and early learning activities for child (ren) birth – 6 years.

Improving employment outcomes and increasing economic security for the residents of Northwest Toronto through strategic partnerships with employment agencies to provide skills training, work-relevant education, job placement opportunities in the IT ,and Food and Beverage industry.

Creating opportunities for the black youth and young adults, 17- 30 years, in communities across the GTA to access IT, and entrepreneurial skills training for income generation and economic wellbeing. This program focuses on black youth and young adults who are involved in the justice system.

Community Resource Liaisons focuses on providing information and resources that support efforts to confront and combat Anti-Black racism and its impact on students and their families. Additionally, we assist in the acknowledgment, understanding and addressing of issues as they emerge while improving the development and delivery of services. Our aim is to support Black families and students ages 5-18 as they engage with the education system.
