At Delta Family Resource Centre, volunteers are the heartbeat of our mission. Every year, caring and committed individuals help us deliver programs, connect with our neighbours, and make Toronto’s northwest communities more inclusive, resilient, and welcoming.

Four Steps to Become a Volunteer

Step 1:

Apply

Submit your volunteer application online.

Step 2:

Interview

Meet with us for a phone or in-person interview to explore your interests and volunteer goals.

Step 3:

Screening

Complete any necessary screening requirements (e.g., police record check. if applicable).

Step 4:

Orientation

Attend an orientation session to get familiar with our organization, policies, training, and next steps.

At DFRC, we believe there’s a place for everyone to make a difference. We’ll work with you to match your skills, interests, and availability to a role that feels meaningful and rewarding. 

Here are some ways you can get involved: 

  • Community Program Support – Assist staff during workshops, drop- ins, and community events. 
  • Newcomer Settlement Support – Welcome and guide newcomers to local resources and services. 
  • Youth Mentorship & Engagement – Support after- school programs, leadership training, and skill- building activities. 
  • Community Kitchen & Food Security – Help with food distribution, community gardens, and meal programs. 
  • Event Support – Set up, greet attendees, and keep community events running smoothly. 
  • Administrative & Reception Support – Provide office support through data entry, outreach calls, and other tasks. 

Additional volunteer opportunities: 

  • Student Tutoring – Help children and youth improve their academic skills and confidence. 
  • Fundraising – Support campaigns, sponsorship outreach, and donor engagement (some experience preferred). 
  • Social Events – Assist with holiday parties, picnics, volunteer appreciation nights, and other celebrations. 

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and provide orientation and training for every role. 
These opportunities are not limited to the list above, we’re always open to new ideas and suggestions, and may offer other roles based on community needs and your unique skills.
